Pharma Live! / Novartis Pharmaceuticals UK Ltd

For Novartis, the start of a new year meant it was time to launch their new aspiration, which was based on patients’ ‘extraordinary need for an ordinary life’. Novartis wanted to inspire all of their staff to bring their individual talents to work and apply them to better serve the aspiration of patients for a better life. We were tasked with creating an event that galvanised employees and encouraged them to fully embrace the new company initiative.

We created ‘Pharma Live!’, a flexible platform that can be used in future years. The main stage became a live broadcast studio which demonstrated openness and made delegates an integral part of the production.

The aspiration was introduced by the Head of the UK Pharma Organisation, along with the four supporting ‘behavioural pillars’. The conference activities over the following days were designed to open up delegates to their potential, and motivate them to bring these behaviours to work.

We set them their biggest challenge on the second day. Delegates had to create and perform their own piece of theatre, in front of a packed audience, all by 6 pm. They rose to the challenge and impressed the audience drawn from local extraordinary people and a celebrity judge from Britain’s Got Talent.

The ‘extraordinary’ theme was infused throughout the four days. When delegates had a night out on Brighton Pier the fish and chips came in newspapers, specially printed for the event, which featured stories of extraordinary people from Brighton. Various bands provided entertainment including Scouting for Girls and, judging by the wild exuberance amongst the audience, many new friendships were formed.

The results were impressive. A score of 91.9% for clarity and purpose was up 6% on previous years.
