Central to BBCW’s brand and programme marketing strategy is the flagship event BBCW Showcase: an annual B2B sales conference and the world’s biggest television sales market hosted by a single distributor with over 700 delegates attending from every corner of the globe.
Showcase is delivered by the Global Events team at BBC Worldwide, based in London. Showcase 2016 took place at the ACC in Liverpool on 21-24 February, with over 1400 delegates and staff in attendance. BBC premium content was viewed by international buyers in our screening booths. As well as viewing content, delegates were immersed in the BBC brands, through world-class creative and artwork, exclusive premieres and daytime events, activations and spectacular evening events.
Highlights of 2016 included the launch of the new Top Gear series at our Monday evening event – which included live motor stunts, a flying car and appearances from Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc and the all-new Top Gear cast. There was also a surprise visit from special guest David Beckham and evening entertainment from Diversity and Tinie Tempah. Another highlight of the conference was a premiere event with Sir David Attenborough, interviewed by Louis Theroux. During this event, delegates were immersed in a 3D visual mapping experience which utilised footage from the Natural History Unit to transport delegates to the natural world through moving image, music and the senses.
95% of delegates who responded to the Ipsos Mori survey rated Showcase at 8/10 or above. This year’s Showcase also achieved record press coverage – more than Showcase 2014 and 2015 combined!
