At 7pm on the 12th May six stretched hummers pulled up at the driveway of a country house hotel. As the cars set off for their undisclosed destination, the guests settled down with a glass of bubbly. Soon the cars pulled into Gunwharf Quays where the guests were whisked onto a fleet of 8 high speed rib boats. As the sun settled over the horizon, the boats opened up their engines and raced across the Solent, each taking their turn to take the lead to the excited shrieks of the guests. In the distance, the spectacular No Man’s Fort came into view and as the boats drew closer a rocket positioned on the roof gave a menacing blast of smoke. As the guests disembarked onto the fort, crew dressed as SAS gunmen performed routine security checks before handing the guests over to Odd Job, Jaws and Bond look-a-likes. Martinis were poured, the sun disappeared behind the horizon and the fort’s horns blasted to signify that guests should take their seats for dinner. Then, suddenly, the sound of an approaching helicopter and live gun fire. A screen shot of masked agents abseiling down the side of the fort then storming the room. A choreographed fight ensued. Gun shots, punches, back flips, high kicks and much adrenaline later and the day was saved to a delighted cheer from the guests. After dinner, the crowd eagerly awaited the announcement of the award winners then the casino was declared open and the party moved to the adjacent Cabaret Bar. As midnight drew closer, guests filled the dance floor, surrounded the casino tables or relaxed on the roof peacefully toasting marshmallows around the fire pits. All too soon it was time for the guests to head back to their hotel after a truly unforgettable night…
