Smiling Stars 2019, the annual reward and recognition programme for Shell Retail was hosted in the iconic city of Sydney, Australia from 22-26 June. Over 1,170 guests from 60 countries representing Shell shop and forecourt staff from every corner of the globe were invited to a celebration like no other.
The 2019 incentive event was uniquely challenging as both the Imagination core event team and clients were based in London whilst the event was on the other side of the world in Sydney. The global nature of our agency meant that our Sydney office were able to provide on the ground support for the London office to help manage and overcome event planning challenges, providing a seamless delivery team working around the clock.
Using our established relationships in region Imagination were able to secure Sydney’s most iconic venues in what would become a four day extravaganza. To officially open the celebrations the Welcome Night was hosted at the heritage listed Luna Park, Sydney’s oldest and most revered amusement park.
The Business Conference was at the Sydney Opera House with a programme crafted befitting of the iconic venue. A unique compilation of performances and entertainment was crafted for guests which included opera, the Jubilation Choir and Sydney Symphony Orchestra. The Retail Global Awards Celebration was a formal awards dinner at the Sydney Town Hall, a premium black tie event with an impressive musical line-up that culminated with Bobby Fox and the house band leading the dancing.
The ‘Night of the Smiling Stars’ gala dinner closed out the event, honouring guests in spectacular style. The evening began with a private cocktail party cruise around Sydney harbour before sailing to the International Convention Centre in Darling Harbour where a diverse programme, inspired by the ‘Spirit of Australia’ was performed to entertain the guests.
