Visit Belfast

Belfast’s transformation into a vibrant events destination is nothing short of remarkable. 2019 is a special year for the city marking the 20th anniversary of Visit Belfast and a landmark year of tourism growth, investment and achievements including:
•A record year for business tourism sales with 112 new conference and events secured for the city for future years, up 47% on the prior year and representing a 33% growth in delegates, 16% in economic impact and 13% in bed nights
•Becoming ‘Europe’s most business friendly city’ of its size and a ‘Top 10 Global City of the future’ by the Financial Times FDI Magazine
•Being recognised as the 2nd fastest growing knowledge economy in the UK and the 3rd largest growing office market in the world
•Climbing 50 places in the ICCA rankings for international association conferences to 115 in the world, ahead of established GB and global MICE destinations
•Northern Ireland recognised as the ‘Best Food Destination’ at the International Travel and Tourism Awards
•ABPCO’s ‘Best Industry Partnership award’ secured by the city’s convention centre, ICC Belfast
•And as the only in the UK that delegates have to fly to; the George Best Belfast City Airport was recognised as ‘the most convenient airport in the UK’ by the Telegraph and the ‘Most punctual airport in the UK’ by the civil aviation authority (CAA).
Testament to Belfast’s appeal and credibility as an events destination, in 2019 Belfast has secured six prestigious MICE industry events bringing over 700 international buyers to the city.
Just twenty years on from the Good Friday Agreement, Tourism has been the economic peace dividend for Belfast. With an investment package of £1billion pounds announced through the Belfast Region City Deal earlier this year, the city is gearing up for the next 20 years of transformational growth.
