Smyle set ambitious record financial targets for 2019-20 and smashed them, with record turnover achieved ahead of target – from £26.7m in 2018 to £38m – a 43% increase.

Smyle secured 92nd place on the 2020 Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 in February 2020 for the fastest growing exports in the country – the only event agency to be on it two years in a row.

We also retained our top 10 clients and won a series of new clients including UEFA, World Bank, EE and Formula E.

We were very proud to have been voted Top 5 in C&IT’s Best Places to Work and won the “Rewarding Excellence” award.

Over the year, we introduced Vitality Essentials to all employees, launched MySmyleJourney - a holistic view of career planning – and staff took charity days including the Climate Strike march and wildlife regeneration projects.

We also supported International Women’s Day campaign #BalanceForBetter and held body balance classes and mindfulness sessions.

Our Planet Smyle team recently appointed a full time Sustainability Lead to help us drive the recently launched 10 year plan, aiming to deliver across five key areas run by representatives across the business. They are auditing these areas to reduce impact and emissions.

Since March 2020, Smyle has been hugely agile in our response to this year’s pandemic.

We accelerated the launch of our new business product – BEYOND, virtual and hybrid events solutions and wins have massively exceeded targets and amount to £9.5m of sales, with a further £25m in current live pitch pipeline.

Smyle matched NHS fundraiser ‘Run 5 Donate 5 Nominate 5’, donated furniture to newly recruited nurses from India for their unfurnished accommodation and gave all our stock crew snacks to the Russell Trust. Staff on furlough have also volunteered to be NHS heroes.
