The Convention Centre Dublin (The CCD) is Ireland’s only purpose-built international conference venue, located in the heart of Dublin city in Ireland. The iconic venue is located just 15 minutes from the airport in Dublin’s Docklands, the finance and technology hub of the city, and is ideally positioned to entice the international business tourism market.
2015 was an exceptional year for The CCD with the venue counting 70% of its customers as repeat business, which is a tremendous endorsement for the award-winning team. New sales orders increased by 9.5% compared to 2014 figures, with 25 international conferences alone, worth €52 million to the local economy.
The CCD hosted 163 events and almost 400,000 delegate days which saw revenue increase by 31.5% on 2014 figures. The venue prides itself on offering first-class service with a high level of expertise, and maintained an overall customer satisfaction rate of 98% throughout the year.
The venue installed a rainwater harvesting system, enabling it to divert rain water to storage tanks for use in systems which use non-potable water, it achieved its highest recycling rate to date by recycling 98% of all waste generated, reviewed its hospitality offering and introducing four themed breaks using super foods that provide much-needed energy during conferences, as well as a Nutritional Desk for conferences over 200 people.
The CCD’s 2015-2016 marketing campaign ‘Ireland Taking Care of Business’ focused on the accessibility and perception of Ireland as a business tourism destination. Prior to 2008, Dublin’s perception as a business destination was unknown, but in focusing on the right target market internationally, The CCD is putting itself on the world stage, showcasing what it and the city has to offer, and providing the business opportunity to grow further in future years.
