AsiaWorld-Expo

A leading exhibition and convention venue in Hong Kong, AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) offers over 70,000sqm rentable spaces with track record of hosting mega conference up to 20,000 delegates. In response to the challenges created by the global pandemic, AWE is embracing the new normal with the theme of “Change • Possibilities” upon entering to its 15th anniversary.

In 2021, AWE kick-started a HK$600 million venue-wide renovation project which covered Hardware Upgrade, Technology and Network Advancements and Smart Solutions for Sanitisation. To meet the increasing trend of hybrid event model, innovative Mobile Studio was introduced as value-added service in addition to enhanced conference facilities. AWE also pioneers in creative adaptations, convertible washroom and automated sanitising facilities not only deliver best-in-class visitor experience, but also increase operation efficiency and reduce cost & risk to organisers. To complete the mammoth scale project within a tight project timeline while remaining business as usual with no interruption to daily operation is the major challenge. AWE demonstrated the agility and resilience to the evolving pandemic development; renovation projects were geared-up and completed by phases in non-peak season and made venue available to catch the 6-months window with 28 events successfully commenced before another big wave of Omicron outbreak in Hong Kong starting from late January 2022. From achieving 8 industry-first applications in Hong Kong MICE sector, earning extensive media coverages, to attracting new shows and retaining existing clients, the visionary plan of AWE in preparing for business rebound is highly recognised by stakeholders. The 2021/2022 renovation projects are just a start among the 5-year master plan, more upscale and extensive changeover will be carried out in years ahead, creating synergies with the 2nd phase development of AWE and the adjacent Airport City development, further strengthening its position in capitalising opportunities from China Greater Bay Area and global regions.
