Having hosted the inimitable Formula E event since 2021, Excel London always strives to grow and develop the world’s only indoor/outdoor motorsport event year-on-year.

Formula E – the fully-electric racing series and the only UK-race – first charged into Excel during the height of the global pandemic. Racing behind closed doors, it wouldn’t be until a year later that race fans would get to watch world-class motorsport in London.

With more than 50 million watching live worldwide, and 45,000 fans poised in their seats, the event not only had to wow fans, but it also had to deliver under the scrutiny of motorsport’s world governing body the FIA – the same as Formula One. And, with Formula E events taking place all in one day, there would be no ‘dress rehearsal’ or margin for error.

2022’s sold-out event was huge success, so much so that driver and former champion Antonio Felix Da Costa took to social media to state that it had been the, “best ever event in the history of Formula E”.

For the 2023 event, Excel would be granted the honour of hosting the championship’s season finale. Furthermore, Excel collaborated closely with Formula E to set the Guinness World Indoor Land Speed Record – something completely unique to the venue.

The challenge for 2024’s event was equally as ambitious, however, as the team once again delivered a hugely successful and sell-out event…only this time whilst still constructing its own 25,000sqm expansion, meaning for the first ever time, a racetrack would be built through a live construction site.
