Manufacturing a Net-Zero Future

XSEM

Client: NMIS

A 3-week roller-coaster ride!

NMIS approached XSEM after we won the C&IT’s Manufacturing & Industrial Event of the Year in 2021. XSEM pitched for NMIS’ ‘Manufacturing a Net-Zero Future’ conference and won the contract 3-weeks prior to the event. Linked to the COP26 event in Glasgow, sustainability was the focus. The purpose of the event was to evoke conversations and promote partnership working amongst key industry leaders, encourage more sustainable ways of working -leading the way in the fight against the climate emergency. The event was the first of its kind. Naturally we met several challenges along the way, predominantly resulting from the tight time frame. Transforming a totally uninspiring venue into an ‘all singing –all dancing event’ was a feat of creative magic, our XSEM heroes working as a dream team all hours of the day, to bring the venue and event focus alive to engage the delegates. This included creating our centre stage ‘in the round’ and showcasing innovative ‘sustainable’ manufacturing products. However, our innovative thinking generated a few logistical issues along the way, particularly around the ‘giant exhibits -think double-decker bus! Other innovative approaches included the creation of a bespoke and customisable App with engaging functionalities e.g. live Q&A, delegate polls, offering delegates a platform to have discussions with the speakers, even if the speakers were in virtual attendance. This, accompanied with headphones, allowed delegates total freedom to engage with speakers anywhere in the building. The full event brief was met, and targets exceeded! 100% of delegates rated the event ‘good’ or ‘excellent’, and the client was over-the-moon, wishing to repeat the event in 2022! And it’s legacy? NMIS were delighted that it enhanced relationships, built the foundations of long-term partnerships, and encouraged a more innovative & resourceful way of working.
