Honda UK wanted to launch the all new Honda e – their first electric car – in a fun and inspiring way, whilst ensuring that the strict Covid guidelines of the summer of 2020 were respected.
As with all press launches, the key objective was to get as much coverage as possible in the current climate and, as hosts of the first Covid-19 automotive press launch the previous month, the Honda PR team was keen to demonstrate that the brand was continuing to be at the forefront of the industry.
As the Honda e is Honda’s first electric vehicle, it was important that the event felt a little different, with routes designed to show off the car and a venue with a look and feel that represented the marque.
With the challenges of Covid, as well as the logistics of launching an electric car, the event planning was critical. Health and safety considerations included temperature checks, individual branded safety packs and personalised lunches from an outdoor pizza oven.
The event also presented an opportunity for journalists to experience other products from Honda’s range of cars and power products, including the Mimo, Honwave and the open-roofed ATV.
The event created quite a buzz in the automotive press and the Honda team was delighted with its success.
