Pioneering Sustainability with Enviroplan at ASCO

At ASCO 2025, one of the world’s premier oncology congresses, Inizio redefined what it means to exhibit sustainably - delivering a bold, conversation-starting presence that championed environmental and social responsibility at every level.

In partnership with Emota, Inizio’s events division, the team returned to ASCO with a single vision: to stand out not just for oncology leadership, but for innovation in sustainable design. The result was a modular, zero-waste booth constructed entirely from recyclable cardboard - strong, striking in appearance, and - for the second year running - entirely unique on the exhibition floor.

Built using Emota’s Enviroplan methodology and guided by the isla TRACE carbon calculator, every design and delivery decision prioritised circularity and impact reduction. From flat-packed logistics (reducing freight costs by 75%) to water-based inks and reused furnishings, sustainability was embedded - not bolted on. Set-up time was slashed from two days to four hours, and the booth is now in storage, ready for reuse at future events. The carbon footprint was 0.62 tonnes of CO2e (compared to 2.4 tonnes for a traditional build); the booth had 100% recyclability and 63% of assets were made from recycled materials.

But the impact didn’t end there. It realised a 40.5% cost reduction and amplified brand engagement: a 17% stand engagement rate, $3.27M in projected pipeline ROI, 2M+ LinkedIn impressions, and 74K YouTube views via OncoDaily.

Importantly, the initiative also embraced DEI and accessibility, featuring inclusive language, screen-reader-friendly graphics, and step-free access - making the experience open and meaningful for all.

Now adopted across the Inizio network and inspiring clients industry-wide, this initiative has sparked a transformation. What began as a booth has become a case study in sustainable creativity - proof that innovation, environmental accountability, and brand excellence can not only coexist but thrive together.
