The Edge of the World
The Experience Studio, by Amex GBT Meetings & Events
Svalbard, Tromsø, and Oslo
The Edge of the World:The Experience Studio orchestrated an unprecedented Arctic incentive journey for a French multi-energy client, delivering 400 VIP customers across five waves to three extraordinary destinations. This wasn't a conventional retreat—it was a transformational pilgrimage to the edge of the world.
The Challenge and Solution:
Facing crucial retention and growth objectives, our client needed an experience that would transcend standard incentive offerings and emotionally reconnect their most valued customers. We responded with an audacious vision: a journey to the most northern civilization on earth, where polar bears outnumber people, combined with cultural immersion in Tromsø and luxury rejuvenation in Oslo. The programme was structured to accomplish three core outcomes: • Celebrate attendees' achievements • Create lasting emotional memories • Inspire organisational pride across the entire company
Incentivising and Celebrating:
Every element was designed to make attendees feel genuinely valued. From champagne welcomes in Paris to handwritten cards and locally crafted chocolates in rooms, the journey communicated: you are special. Intimate encounters with the Sámi indigenous people, guided Northern Lights expeditions, exclusive access to the world's northernmost ice bar, Arctic fjord cruises with wildlife encounters, and personalised adventure tracks—each experience celebrated individual preferences while fostering collective camaraderie. The programme culminated at Scandinavia's premier spa sanctuary, to conclude with rejuvenation and reflection.
Measurable Success: • 9.13/10 satisfaction score, reflecting genuine emotional resonance • €90,000+ cost savings through strategic partnerships • Exceptional qualitative feedback capturing transformational impact
Emotional Impact and Lasting Memories:
Attendees returned transformed, having met indigenous communities, walked where polar bears roam, tasted the Arctic (literally), and witnessed the Northern Lights. They discovered that camaraderie transcends language and culture. These customers became brand ambassadors, their Arctic memories cementing long-term loyalty and inspiring organisational pride among those who missed out—creating aspirational motivation for future performance.
